Darrell and Mike, are brothers who have been fishing, camping, hiking, and hunting since they were about three years old. Between them they have around 96 years of outdoor experience and stories to go with them. They feel that outdoor skills are heirlooms that should be passed along to all who enjoy the outdoors.
Darrell and Mike created the Backland USA website so that everyone can have a place to share their outdoors stories and experiences.  We hope to encourage you to share yours on this site, too.
Backland USA is currently based on the eastern slopes of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, but the experiences don't stop there.
Always:
Learn and obey all fishing and hunting regulations for the area. Be prepared with the proper survival gear when in remote areas. Tell someone where you are going, the route you will take, and when you expect to return. "Think safety" and never use alcohol or drugs when you use a firearm, drive, boat, swim, or hike on treacherous terrain. Respect the environment, pick up and pack trash out even if it isn't yours, and never trash the water. Be extremely careful with fire. Be polite and courteous to all others who use the outdoors. Eat or use what you take from the environment; if you can't eat it, use it however you can to replenish the environment. Give thanks to God for the beauty and wonder of His creation and the bounty it produces.
