A can of baked beans, some bacon grease, brown sugar, a heap of onion, couple of chopped up hot dogs, and some bbq sauce. Mix
it all up and put it on the fire. Uumm, ummmhh! Lunch is ready. The tent will be warm and the flaps will be a-floppin'
tonight. Mike
For y'all who like to get up before the sun and go huntin' before eating breakfast just because you don't want to make noise with
cooking pans and such, get a piece of foil and wrap your eggs (shelled or not), bacon, and potatos in it. Before you hit the
sack in the evening, dig a hole beneath the coals of your fire pit about five to six inches down and place your wad of breakfast in it,
and then cover it with dirt. Scoop the coals back over the top of it. When you wake up in the mornin' all you'll have
to do is dig it up and eat it--it will be cooked and hot. If you don't eat bacon put some butter or olive oil in with
it. Mike
Add some pine needles to the coffee while it is brewing to give it a smooth flavor. Dad
A half of an orange rind can be used: as a cup, cook an egg in it, boil water in it -- it adds a nice flavor. Rub the orange
rind on your skin to keep the mosquitos at bay; but, remember that the critters you hunt will smell you a mile away. You will
smell rather nice, though--might be a nice improvement after eating that bean-lunch recipe above. Will Danford.
Run out of cooking fuel? Use a gob of pine tree sap. It burns for a good long time, but it will blacken your pans. Mike
